Starting a new school year always comes with a mix of excitement and nervousness, especially when you’re about to meet a new teacher and learn a subject you’ve heard so many things about. For my first week of ICT, we finally met our teacher, Sir Richard Peralta, and got our first glimpse of what this subject would be like.

Our first actual ICT meeting was on Tuesday morning. We started by filling out our index cards. After that, Sir Peralta called our names one by one and asked us a few questions. The first two questions were pretty easy, but unfortunately for me, I was third in the order of the index cards.

Then Sir Peralta asked, “What were the lessons you learned in Grade 7?” And suddenly... my brain went completely blank. I could only remember one thing: the basic parts of a motherboard. You can't blame me—it was three years ago, huhu. Besides that, Sir Peralta also asked us what we had learned in Grade 8 and Grade 9. Thankfully, I remembered a few things, such as C++, HTML, and Visual Basic.

Sir Peralta also introduced us to CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, which is used to style and design webpages. It was one of the things that made me curious about what we were going to learn throughout the school year.

The next day, Sir Peralta asked us what our seniors had told us about his subject. Most of us said that it was difficult and that we were probably going to struggle. However, we also heard that Sir Peralta was a nice teacher, so that was at least a little reassuring.

We only had two actual ICT meetings this week because Monday was for orientation, Thursday was the PTA meeting, and Friday was Independence Day.

And just like that, Week 1 was over. It wasn't a very long week, but it was enough to give me a little idea of what my ICT journey might look like.
