Week 8: retrying...

Week 8 cover

Another week another code. This week was all about retrying, practicing, and trying to improve my score. After getting a score that I wasn't really happy with, I wanted to give myself another chance and see if I could do better. I went back to the things I struggled with, practiced the codes again, and tried to understand my mistakes instead of just memorizing the answers. It wasn't about getting everything perfect right away—it was about trying again and hopefully making progress.

We also started discussing the website we would have to make. Sir Peralta explained what we needed, and I began thinking about the theme and the overall look I wanted. Sir Peralta also chose a website to determine the order of our website presentations. This helped us know when it would be our turn to present and gave us an idea of how the presentations would be arranged. It also made me a little more nervous because now I knew that our website presentation was getting closer! Thankfully, I wasn't last, but I wasn't called too early either, so I got my turn at number 17.

This week was about the retake, and I was actually excused from Sir Peralta's class because of something that sounds like it came straight out of a comedy scene Someone accidentally spilled a beverage on me. Yes. A whole beverage. On me.

Later, I came across Sir Peralta, and he asked me: “Kala ko may sakit ka?” And I was like: “Sir, hindiii poo. May nakabuhos po sa akin ng inumin nila sa daan.”

Then Sir Peralta replied: “Ay, so naging lababo ka.” WHILE LAUGHING.

I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or just accept my new identity as a human sink.

After everything that happened in the previous weeks, from getting sick, missing classes, going to the hospital, and now becoming an accidental beverage collector, this week was definitely another memorable chapter in my ICT journey.

At this point, I'm starting to think my biggest challenge in ICT isn't even the coding anymore. It's simply managing to physically appear in the computer room.

The retake itself was difficult because we had to work with three types of CSS: embedded, inline, and external, with a different setup for each box. I couldn't prepare as much as I could because I didn't know that this would be the setup for our HOQ. Still, despite that, I managed to show some of the boxes, images, and text that I had prepared. It wasn't exactly how I wanted it to turn out, but I'm glad I was still able to present something and make the most out of the situation. My other classmate kept making me laugh while coding because she was panicking so loudly, although I couldn't blame her. I still don't know my score, so that part is still a mystery.

We also had a summative test this week, and let me tell you, I was very disappointed with my score... 9/25. 😭 How did I go from 19/25 to 9/25?! That was definitely not the plot twist I was expecting. I thought I was improving, but apparently CSS 2 had other plans for me.

✦ LESSON UNLOCKED

This week taught me that trying again is still progress. Even when I don't get the score I want or things don't go according to plan, I can learn from my mistakes, practice, and keep improving. I also learned that sometimes, CSS has its own plans for me.

✿ QUOTE OF THE WEEK ✿
“You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” — Margaret Thatcher”

One bad result doesn't mean the battle is over. Sometimes you just need another attempt, a little more practice, and maybe slightly less panic. ✦
